Black Diamond Harps takes traditional solid wood and combines it in a wood/epoxy/carbon fiber composite that produces a harp with the sound quality of a solid wood harp, but with the stable, strong and resilient qualities of carbon fiber. Each harp is then artistically finished to be a unique work of musical art.
Traditional solid wood harps have a rich, wonderful sound, but at the expense of longevity, stability and resilience. The all-carbon fiber harps have strength and resilience but at the expense of a rich, full sound.
As a professional boatbuilder with a background in traditional wood yacht construction as well as in wood/epoxy and carbon fiber composites I felt I could combine the best attributes of solid wood harps with carbon fiber ones. As an accomplished harp player for many years, I knew what I wanted in both sound and playing ability. Black diamond harps combine the sound of a solid wood harp with the strength, stiffness and resilience of carbon fiber and are designed not only to play well, but to look the part to. .
36 strings – nylon. Full Camac levers. Traditional tapered tuning pins. Amp pickup. LED neck lights. Weight between 23 to 24 lbs.
Gold leaf and hand painting make each harp an individual work of art:
